End-of-day manifests

A manifest is the end-of-day handover record: it tells the carrier these parcels are leaving today, and it seals the day's shipments.

Closing the day

AusPost and StarTrack share one mechanism: a single end-of-day commit that marks every included shipment as sealed. Team Global Express manifesting happens as part of the shipment flow itself — there's no separate close step. TGE overall is still beta.

Close before the driver arrives. The manifest is the document the handover happens against.

The order summary PDF

For AusPost and StarTrack, OrderOps fetches the order summary PDF on demand once the manifest is closed — that's what the driver signs against. Print it, get the signature, keep it.

Manifested labels lock

The lock isn't bureaucracy. A void reverses carrier charges, and charge reversal only works while the parcel is still yours. After manifest, the carrier has possession and has billed the movement — pretending OrderOps could undo that would be lying. See voiding and reprinting for both halves.

A workable end-of-day routine

1. Scan the day's shipments for anything that shouldn't ship — wrong address, cancelled order, duplicate label.
2. Void those while the charges still reverse.
3. Close the manifest, print the order summary, hand over to the driver.

Who can close a manifest is a permission, separate from who can print labels — owners and managers hold it by default. Tune it under roles and permissions if your floor splits the job differently.
